Access Not Denied

Stephen Pashby

DesignHammer was pleased to once again support the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits by participating in the 2018 North Carolina Center for Nonprofits Conference. The annual conference delivers continuing education, inspiration, and support to Nonprofits from across North Carolina. This year, David and I presented a session on website accessibility considerations for organizations, including what is website accessibility, the legal landscape regarding accessibility, and how to approach a website accessibility effort.

You can see the whole blog post and presentation recap here.

2018 Conference for North Carolina's Nonprofits

Hunter Kenny

The 2018 NC Nonprofits Conference is a wrap! The DesignHammer team is thankful and honored by the NC Center for Nonprofits' generous, public recognition at the Wednesday Luncheon for the contributions we've made to their website. We're certainly looking forward to another year of engaging conversation and fantastic nonprofit networking opportunities at the Center's 2019 conference! As previously mentioned, Account Manager Stephen Pashby has provided a recap on his NCCNP presentation, titled "Access Not Denied", which covers the basics of web accessibility–so don't forget to take a look if you missed it!

And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to read our case study on the NC Center for Nonprofit's website redesign.

RPRS November Lunch + Learn

Hunter Kenny

The Raleigh Public Relations Society’s monthly Lunch + Learn took place last Wednesday and was memorable, to say the least! Veteran local entertainment marketing professionals Rachel Traversari (Senior Director of Marketing, DPAC) and Taylor Traversari (General Manager, Koka Booth Amphitheater) joined us at 18 Seaboard in Raleigh to talk about their roles in helping to elevate the visibility of Triangle-area arts and entertainment. The event hosted a full house of marketing communications and public relations professionals, with the intention of providing educational entertainment, a fantastic meal and of course, fantastic networking opportunities between professionals. I for one have always been captivated by the entertainment industry, so this month’s topic of discussion was incredibly intriguing to me. We learned about the rules and regulations behind hosting different types of events in downtown Raleigh, as well as some of the PR concepts behind scheduling and promoting various Broadway shows at the Durham Performing Arts Center. This Lunch + Learn was certainly one for the books, with the key takeaway being that all events on Fayetteville Street aren’t meant to cater to everyone, but it’s important we respect and support how they’re contributing to our community.

If lunching and learning is something that interests you, check out the Raleigh Public Relations Society's event schedule to sign up for the next one!
