As part of its re-branding process, Research Triangle Institute changed its name to RTI International and adopted a new logo, striving to be recognized as the premier independent research institute in the world. A new web site design, deployed in June 2002, was part of the re-branding process.
The new design conveys the message “RTI is the world’s best resource for turning knowledge into practice through innovative, multidisciplinary research and technology development.” The site serves a diverse audience identified as clients/collaborators, policymakers, researchers, current and potential customer, potential investors, potential employees, news media and the general public.

- Text based navigation aided with CSS for quick load times, and easy maintenance
- Consistent look and feel throughout site
- Compatible with “version 4” Browsers for Mac OS and Windows.
- Optimal viewing experience with current computer platform, yet degrades well when viewed with older browsers. Design should accommodate horizontal resizing of browser window.
- Three column design, with spaces to show page related content and yet keep the look simple, uncluttered, and easy to read.
- Follows US Government guidelines for accessibility to people with disabilities.
